Tips For New Uni Students
Why Follow This Advice?
Having completed my first year of university I have had many learning curves and experiences. Through these experiences I have gathered some useful tips which I hope will assist you when beginning student life.
- Don't Rush Decisions: Before starting Uni I was lucky enough to hear this advice. Fortunately I didn't make any decisions too quickly in terms of my Uni course, what Uni I wanted to attend, where I wanted to live etc... This meant that when I finally did make my decision, I knew that it was the best path to take.
- Avoid Stress: One of the worst things to do when starting Uni is to stress out. The truth is it can be quite daunting, a new way of learning, new people and maybe even new homes. This can all lead to a build up of stress. Yes the change will take some time to get used to but stress can be avoided. The way I mainly got rid of stress was by going on walks. It clears the mind and will help you immensely.
- Don't Be Afraid To Try New Things: Although I had the chance to try a lot of new things during my first year, I still feel like I didn't explore enough of what my Uni was offering. Join clubs, attend events, take part. You'll meet new people and have a ball.
- Fill Up Your Calendar: Being busy is key when is comes to beginning student life, it makes it so much easier to get work done and have fun. The best way to do this is to fill your calendar with a list of weekly duties, assignment goals and events. Not only will it relieve boredom but it will also ensure your up to date with your work whilst having fun in the process.
